The Sindh Food Authority conducted a raid on Tuesday at a factory in Karachi’s Bhains Colony, where chemicals were being mixed with water to produce milk, ARY News reported.According to Muzamil Haliputo, ADG of the Sindh Food Authority, the factory was producing 9,000 liters of milk using 750 kilos of chemicals.The authorities destroyed the chemically-tainted milk, which was made by mixing the chemicals with 480 liters of water.
The staff involved in the production of this harmful milk were arrested, and legal action is being taken against them.Muzamil Haliputo emphasized that the authorities would not tolerate any activities that jeopardize public health.Last month, the Sindh Food Authority (SFA) conducted a similar raid on a synthetic milk-producing factory, seizing toxic chemicals and arresting the staff.According to the SFA, the operation was carried out in Karachi’s Bhains Colony after receiving complaints that the factory was producing fake (synthetic) milk by adding chemicals to the water.
ADG Muzamil Haliputo led the SFA team that confiscated 750 kilos of chemicals used to produce 9,000 liters of fake milk.Additionally, 480 liters of the prepared fake milk were seized and discarded. The entire factory staff has been arrested, and the SFA has vowed to take strict action against those involved in the production and distribution of adulterated milk.
